In the late 1990s, the cellphone industry was gaining momentum worldwide, and the demand for accessories was on the rise. In 1999, the owner, Sanjeev, seized this opportunity and started importing cellphone accessories to Europe and the UK. This initial venture laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the industry.

In 2003, recognizing the potential for expansion, Sanjeev made a strategic decision to move his business to South Africa. South Africa presented a growing market with ample opportunities for growth. Over the next decade, Sanjeev's business thrived and transformed into a major wholesaler in the region. He primarily sourced his stock from China, establishing a permanent office there with a dedicated team managing the sourcing, procurement, and shipping of containers.

As a wholesaler, Sanjeev observed the success of small cellphone repair shops in the electronic market, particularly their ability to sell low-end gadgets at inflated prices. However, he also noticed a gap in the market, with many shops situated in prime locations but failing to cater to the evolving needs of customers.

With a vision to provide better service and tap into the untapped segments of the gadget and electronics market, Sanjeev made a significant decision in 2016. He founded GADGET WORLD as a retail and franchise arm of CSRS Traders, his established wholesale business. This marked a pivotal moment in the company's history, as it shifted its focus from wholesaling to retailing electronic goods and related accessories.

GADGET WORLD aimed to offer a wide variety of electronic gadgets that addressed various lifestyle segments, recognizing that cell phones, computers, and other electronics were becoming integral parts of everyday life. The company understood that these devices would experience wear and tear, leading to a demand for professional electronic repairs. To address this need, GADGET WORLD ensured that each shop had qualified technicians on staff, capable of repairing computers and other electronic items of all sizes.

Within just four years of its inception, GADGET WORLD experienced remarkable growth. The number of GADGET WORLD shops quickly multiplied, reaching a total of 15 strategically located outlets across the best malls in South Africa. This rapid expansion was a testament to the company's successful approach in capturing the market's attention and meeting consumer demands.

In 2017, the retail business was separated from CSRS Traders and officially registered as The Gadget World (PTY) Ltd. This move allowed GADGET WORLD to establish itself as a distinct entity, solely focused on its retail operations and strengthening its brand presence in the market.

During a visit to China in the same year, the REMAX group, a well-known international brand in the electronics industry, engaged in discussions with CSRS Traders. Recognizing the potential of the South African market, REMAX proposed that CSRS Traders become their exclusive agent in the country. The agreement granting CSRS Traders the sole rights to open REMAX shops in South Africa was finalized by the beginning of 2018.

Taking advantage of this partnership, GADGET WORLD successfully opened 14 REMAX shops in the top malls of South Africa since mid-2018. These REMAX outlets offered an extensive range of electronic gadgets and accessories, further solidifying GADGET WORLD's position as a prominent player in the retail electronics industry.

The growth and success of GADGET WORLD exemplifies Sanjeev's entrepreneurial spirit, his dedication to providing better service, and his astute understanding of the market's needs. By capitalizing on emerging trends and customer demands, GADGET WORLD carved out a significant presence in the South African retail landscape, paving the way for further expansion and continued success.
